RCN Fellowship is presented to Dr Hazel Heath.
"Hazel has dedicated her working life to the care of older people, something particularly important given our ageing population.
She has strived to make sure that services for older people are recognised for quality when they deliver it and this work is known worldwide.
Crucially, much of her work has focused on identifying the powerful contribution that nursing care makes to the lives of older people.
The RCN's Older People's Forum are exceptionally lucky to have benefitted from Hazel's expertise for more than twenty years, so I know they will be very happy with her latest achievement.”

Old age, so the saying goes, is the only disease you don't look forward to being cured of.  But there are many who would denounce this perception of old age as a period of grim and inevitable decline as simply wrong.  Among them is Hazel Heath ... She's convinced that caring for older people is more vital than ever before.  "Nursing older people is a speciality of the present and the future" she says. "There's a tendency to see older people as a race apart, but they're ourselves in the future ... The service we create will be the service we inherit".
